The rock gardens of our Czech Lyttel Trophy holder Vojtěch Holubec in Prague– Suchdol is a clever mixture of massive limestone blocks above a pretty pond and soft travertine (tufa) boulders in a separate bed. A new important part is the travertine wall and the outcrops from Vulcanic origin. The wall offers small Primulas. Saxifrages and Dionysias dancing in their soft stone holes together with American alpines. The garden has choice conifer decoration and an alpine house near well filled beds of a nursery. Great aesthetic value are large stony troughs around stairs. This unusual rock garden is planted by geography of plants from all the world’s important mountains. Limestone boulders are impressive when connected with parallel narrow crevice gardens. A small collection of well selected species of the Genus Daphne is giving refreshment to artistic design of the garden. Many alpines are the rare examples of Vojtěch´s introductions from his expedition abroad.
